Georgia Highlands College recently hosted its annual President’s Scholars Day, an event designed to inspire high-achieving high school seniors and strengthen community engagement.
The event, held March 22 at the college’s Cartersville campus, brought together prospective students and their families for an immersive experience focused on academic opportunity and student success. Participants had the chance to explore programs, connect with faculty and current students, and learn more about campus life.
Organizers say the goal of President’s Scholars Day is to help students envision their future in higher education while highlighting the resources and support available at Georgia Highlands College. The event is geared toward seniors with strong academic performance who may still be considering their college options.
Activities throughout the day included student panels, academic showcases, and opportunities for scholarship interviews. A special session for parents also provided guidance on financial aid and navigating the college process.
One of the highlights of the event was a keynote address from former NASA astronaut Dr. Lawrence J. DeLucas, who encouraged students to think boldly about their goals and future careers.
College officials say events like President’s Scholars Day not only help recruit future students but also reinforce the school’s connection to the surrounding community by opening doors and creating meaningful engagement opportunities
