Law enforcement agencies and prosecutors across Georgia have an opportunity to apply for funding through a $1.25 million state grant program aimed at strengthening the prosecution of gang-related crimes.

The Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency says the Gang Activity Prosecution Grant is funded through the state’s fiscal year 2027 budget.

Applications opened Monday, October 12, and will be accepted through November 7, with grant awards expected to be announced in late November.

The funding is intended to help eligible agencies purchase or upgrade systems used to organize and manage gang-related criminal cases.

State officials say applicants must explain how their proposed projects will improve their ability to prosecute gang activity. Consideration will be given to agencies with established gang prosecution programs and to applications involving cooperation between law enforcement and prosecutors.

No local matching funds are currently required.

Eligible applicants include state and local law enforcement agencies and prosecuting attorneys throughout Georgia, including agencies serving Chattooga County.

Agencies interested in applying were required to register in the state’s EMGRANTS system by October 12.

The grant’s performance period is scheduled to run from November 1, 2026, through June 1, 2027.
