A former Chattooga County School System teacher, Dr. Elizabeth Anderson has been named executive vice president and chief academic officer at Georgia Northwestern Technical College, effective March 1, according to GNTC President Dr. Heidi Popham.
Anderson, who currently serves as vice president of Academic Affairs and Institutional Effectiveness, will continue leading those areas while also taking on responsibility for Adult Education, Economic Development and Student Affairs. Popham said aligning those divisions strengthens GNTC’s mission of supporting students and building stronger pathways from education to careers across Northwest Georgia.
Anderson has been part of GNTC’s executive leadership team since 2018, overseeing technical education programs across the college’s six campuses, online learning and off-site locations. Her leadership has also included program development, accreditation support, and student-focused services such as accessibility services and apprenticeships.
Before moving into college leadership, Anderson taught mathematics at Summerville Middle School in 2002-03, followed by teaching positions at Cedartown High School and Kennesaw State University. She later held academic leadership roles at Chattahoochee Technical College before joining GNTC.
Anderson holds degrees from Jacksonville State University and a doctorate in Higher Education from Mercer University.
