Students at Georgia Northwestern Technical College now have access to free mental health and wellness services through the college’s partnership with Uwill, an online student mental health platform.

GNTC says the Student Assistance Program gives students free immediate access to teletherapy, along with a direct crisis connection and online wellness programming. The service is available to GNTC students through Uwill’s online platform.

Students seeking counseling can create a Uwill profile and select a therapist based on individual preferences, including the issue they want to address, therapist availability, gender, language and ethnicity.

Appointments are available during the day, at night and on weekends, allowing students to schedule counseling around classes, jobs and other responsibilities. Students can communicate with a therapist through video, telephone, chat or messaging.

GNTC describes the service as private, secure and confidential.

More Than Counseling

The program also provides GNTC students with free on-demand wellness resources.

Students can access programs focusing on areas including yoga, meditation and mindfulness, designed to help students manage stress and maintain their mental and emotional well-being while attending college.

The service adds another resource to GNTC’s existing student-support programs. The college operates campuses across Northwest Georgia, including the Floyd County Campus in Rome and Walker County Campus in Rock Spring, along with campuses serving Catoosa, Gordon, Polk and the Whitfield-Murray area.

Crisis Assistance Available Around The Clock

An important part of the program is immediate access to help during a mental health crisis.

GNTC says students experiencing a mental health crisis can receive assistance 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year by calling 833-646-1526.

The college also directs students to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, which provides free and confidential crisis support.

Students interested in using the teletherapy service can access Uwill using their GNTC student email account. The college says the service is provided at no cost to students.
