Habitat for Humanity – Coosa Valley is calling on local landowners, developers, and community partners to help meet the growing need for affordable housing by donating buildable land for future Habitat homes. Habitat Coosa Valley serves residents across Floyd, Chattooga, and Polk Counties in Northwest Georgia.

Access to safe, decent, and affordable housing remains a critical challenge for many families in our community, and land donations are a key piece of the solution. Donated lots allow Habitat Coosa Valley to build homes that provide stability, dignity, and opportunity for hardworking families who may not otherwise be able to achieve homeownership.

“Land is one of the greatest barriers to affordable housing,” said Betsy Allgood, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Coosa Valley. “A donated lot can become the foundation for a family’s future—offering not just shelter, but a pathway to long-term stability and hope.”

Habitat for Humanity Coosa Valley builds homes in partnership with local families who demonstrate need, the ability to pay an affordable mortgage, and a willingness to invest sweat equity into their homes and community. Each donated parcel of land directly supports Habitat’s mission to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.

In many cases, land donors may also be eligible for tax benefits while making a lasting impact in our community. Those interested in donating land or learning more about supporting Habitat Coosa Valley’s affordable housing efforts are encouraged to reach out.
