GNTC To Waive Application Fees During Free Application Week

Georgia Northwestern Technical College will host a Free Application Week June 1-5 for students planning to enroll for the 2026 fall semester.

During that week, GNTC will waive the $25 application fee for all incoming students. Applicants should use the code JUNE26 when applying to have the fee waived.

The admissions deadline for fall semester is August 4, and classes are scheduled to begin August 17.

Students can apply by visiting GNTC.edu and clicking “Apply Now.” GNTC’s call center is available Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. until 4:15 p.m. at 866-983-4682. Questions may also be directed to the Office of Admissions at admissions@gntc.edu.

Georgia Northwestern Technical College offers associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates in career fields including aviation, business, health, industrial, and public service. The college serves students across Northwest Georgia through credit programs, adult education, continuing education, business and industry training, and Georgia Quick Start programs.

Northwest Georgia Hunger Ministries Seeking Volunteers and Donations to Expand Hunger Relief

Northwest Georgia Hunger Ministries is inviting the community to start 2026 by giving back, with new volunteer opportunities now available during the week and select weekends. Executive Director Lindsey Kilby says individuals can sign up online at hungerministries dot org, making it easy for people to choose available times and get involved.

Kilby adds that weekend volunteer slots are especially geared toward groups of six or more who can commit at least an hour and a half of service. Along with volunteer help, the nonprofit is also asking for donations, with details available on the organization’s website.

Northwest Georgia Hunger Ministries serves low-income families, seniors, and children facing food insecurity in Floyd, Chattooga, and Polk Counties. The organization says its mission is to help break the cycle of poverty by meeting basic needs through hunger relief.

Northwest Health District, County Health Departments to Close Monday Ahead of Hazardous Weather

The Georgia Department of Public Health’s Northwest Health District office in Rome and health departments across 11 Northwest Georgia counties will be closed Monday, January 26, due to anticipated hazardous weather.

Counties included in the closure are Bartow, Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Floyd, Gordon, Haralson, Paulding, Polk, and Walker. Residents needing services are encouraged to plan ahead and monitor official updates for reopening information once conditions improve.
