Those looking for a little Halloween excitement can take a ride through Rome’s haunted past later this month as the Rome Area History Center presents its Haunted on Broad Trolley Tours.

The tours will be offered October 16–17 and October 23–24, taking participants through downtown Rome while sharing stories of mysterious encounters, local legends and unusual happenings from the city’s history.

Organizers say the stories are based on years of historical research, personal accounts and reported real-life experiences, combining local history with tales of the unexplained.

Trolley tours will depart every half hour between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. from the Rome Area History Center, located at 305 Broad Street in downtown Rome.

The experience includes some walking, so participants are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes. Because of the nature of the stories, the tours are recommended for ages 12 and older.

Tickets are $25 per person, with proceeds benefiting the Rome Area History Center, a nonprofit museum dedicated to preserving and sharing the area’s history.

Tickets may be purchased online through Freshtix.com or in person at Georgia’s Rome Welcome Center locations in downtown Rome and on Jackson Hill, across from Applebee’s.

The Rome Area History Center also offers free regular admission Tuesday through Saturday for visitors interested in learning more about the region’s history.
