The 2022 high school football regular season kicks off tonight and both Trion and Chattooga will start the season off with big games against some traditional rivals.

The Chattooga Indians will kick their season off at home at the Little Big Horn against a familiar foe in the Lafayette Ramblers.  It’s hard to believe these two schools have not played each other since 2011.  The two schools have played each other 51 times and Lafayette leads the all time series 21-18-2.

Meanwhile the Trion Bulldogs will open the season for only the third time in school history against the Gordon Lee Trojans on the road in Chickamauga.  The two rivals have long played each other late into November in the old Region 6A but recent region realignments have split the two schools into different classifications but the rivalry should be as intense as ever.

Both the Trion and Chattooga games will be live streamed on the WZQZ Facebook page.  The Trion vs Gordon Lee game will be broadcast live on AM 1180 and 99.1 FM WZQZ.  Barry Peppers will call the action for Chattooga with Chad Biercamp of Biercamp Photography on the camera.  Ben Groce and Jeremy Burke will call the action for Trion with Jim Warnock providing video coverage.  Pregame show starts at 7pm with kickoff to follow at 7:30pm.
