James Walter (Jimmy) Duff, Jr. , passed away at Floyd Medical Center on Tuesday, September 14, following five months of illness.

He was born in Knoxville, TN, on July 30, 1928, the son of the late James A and Anna Bess Duff. He graduated in 1946 from Alcoa High School in Alcoa, TN.  Mr. Duff served in the National Guard during the Korean Conflict.

For over 50 years, Jimmy served the community as owner and operator of Duff’s Flowers and Fifts, selling the business and retiring in 1997.  He was an active member and Deacon of First Presbyterian Church here in Summerville.  A charter member, Mr. Duff was instrumental in the founding of the church in 1982, and the building construction in 1988.

Surviving are sisters, Ada Margaret Duff Elrod of Summerville and Jean Duff Goebel and husband, Wales Goebel of Birmingham, AL; nephews Bill Elrod, Fayetteville, GA; Mike Goebel, Steve Goebel and Stan Goebel of Birming ham; Great nephews Brandon Elrod, Rone, GA; Justin Goebel, Jordan Goebel, Birmingham, AL. and Dallas Goebel, Louisville, KY; great niece, Caitlyn Goebel of Atlanta, GA.

Services wil be held at the First Presbyterian Church, Summerville, at 3:00pm, Friday, September 17.  Officiating will be Rev. Greg King and Rev. Wales Goebel.  Pallbearers will be nephews and great- Nephews, and friend and care-giver Wayne Ashley.  Mr. Duff will be buried in Green Hills Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the services.
