A jet carrying four passengers crashed early Saturday morning in Gordon County killing all passengers on board.

A Cessna Citation twin engine jet crashed in a remote area of Gordon County on Saturday morning killing all four passengers on board.  The crash happened just after 10am on Saturday morning as accumulating snow was falling in northwest Georgia.  The plane was only fifteen minutes into it’s flight after departing from Falcon Field Airport in Peachtree City, GA headed for it’s intended destination in Nashville.    The FAA released a report on Saturday stating that the jet had disappeared from radar at approximately 10:10am and went down in an unknown location in either Gordon or Cherokee County.  Further investigation revealed that the aircraft was last seen overhead in Gordon County which led law enforcement to an extensive search for the wreckage on Saturday afternoon.  The wreckage was not found until approximately 12:30 pm on Sunday afternoon in a remote area that was three miles from the nearest road and could only be accessed via foot or ATV’s.

Gordon County Deputy Coroner Christy Nicholson said that the victims name cannot be released at this time but confirmed that all four adult victims, three men and one woman, perished in the crash.  NTSB spokesperson Heidi Kemner said there was no indication of a fire and the wreckage was found inverted in a creek.  A preliminary report on the crash from the NTSB will not be available for another ten days.
