Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day will be celebrated this year on Monday, January 20, 2020. The national holiday is often marked as a “day of service” to the community and people are encouraged to remember the legacy of Dr. King by volunteering time for a local charitable cause.
In addition to a day of service, there will be church services around the country commemorating the Baptist preacher from Georgia who made a monumental impact on our nation and whose dream of equality for all people is still needed today.
The 2020 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Ecumenical Service, sponsored by the Chattooga County Chapter of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission, will have a service on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at 3 PM. The host church this year is Cedar Springs Baptist Church in the Holland Community.
A dinner will be served at 2 PM at the Cedar Springs Dining Hall.
Rev. Robert E. “Pete” Barrett is the Chairman of the Chattooga County Chapter of the MLK Commission, and he and the members and staff of the commission invite the public to attend.
