Additional charges have been filed against a man accused of robbing the former State Line Tavern in Floyd County, near the Alabama state line, last Friday.
Floyd County Jail records show 23-year-old Jeffrey Lemar Smith of Gadsden is accused of entering the business with an AR-style pistol with the intent to rob the establishment and its patrons. Investigators say Smith pointed the firearm at a man during the incident.
Authorities say Smith was later found hiding in a dumpster in Centre, Alabama, after a pursuit involving Alabama law enforcement. Smith is now charged with robbery, along with additional counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Officials say two other suspects remain at large as the investigation continues.
