Mr. Charles “Billy” Brown, age 90, of Trion, GA, died Monday, February 7, 2022, at Advent Health Redmond.
He was born in Floyd County on July 5, 1931, son of the late Roy H. and Stella Frances Ingle Brown.
Mr. Brown was retired from Lockheed Marietta and was a Korean Veteran. He was a lifetime member of Mason-McCauley V.F.W. Post 6688 where he served as Post Commander for 10 years and 1st District Commander for the State of Georgia for 5 years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 129. He was all state aid decamp for 2 years, National Aid decamp for 3 years, and special aid decamp to the Commander-in-Chief for the V.F.W. for 1 year. He was also a member of the Yaarab Shrine Temple and a lifetime member of the Oostanaula Masonic Lodge # 113, F&AM.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by step daughter, Patsy Shells; step-son, Charles Tate.
Survivors include sons, Billy F. Brown, Eric (Kimberly) Brown; daughter, Debra Brown (Johnny) Bowers; grandsons, Austin and Tanner Bowers, Liam Brown; step-grandson, Dylan Ragan. sister, Frances Elaine Mahan
Funeral services will be held at 11:00a.m. Friday February 11, 2022, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marshall Bryan officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, with Military Honors. Active pallbearers will be, Davin Meadows, Austin Bowers, Bill Tutton, Dempsey Lawson, Ray Henson, Gene Cavin, Tanner Bowers. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of VFW Post 6688, the American Legion post 129 SAL.
Mr. Brown will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour.
Due to the current health concerns for the community, those in attendance are asked to keep in mind the current guidelines and restrictions set forth by the C.D.C. as it pertains to social gatherings including the use of face masks and hand sanitizer.
