Mr. Emmett Dooley, age 91, of Summerville, GA died Monday, January 27, 2014 at his residence.
Mr. Dooley was born June 4, 1922, in Buchannon, GA, the son of the late William F. and Essie Davis Dooley. He was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills, where he had worked as a dye mixer. He was a member of Dry Valley Baptist Church. Mr. Dooley was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in WWII, during the battle of Normandy where he received a purple heart.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Virginia Broome Dooley, sons and daughters-in-law, Marshall & Pauline Dooley, Melvin & Gail Dooley, brother and sister-in-law, Boyce & Gail Dooley, grandchildren, Shelley Dooley Vaughn & Stacy, Tanya Dooley Naguszewski & Bob, Kristy Dooley Wilson, Jim Dooley & Susan, Tim Dooley, step-grandchildren, Angie & Mark Solis, Jeff Sharp, great-grandchildren, Lauren Wilson Latta, Landon Reynolds, Ryan & Kristin Wilson, Anna & Sophie Naguszewski, Logan & Jacob Dooley, step-great grandchildren, Carolina & Jackson Solis, Bruer & Barrett Sharp, great-great grandchild, Knox Latta.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p. m. Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Mason
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Weaver and Rev. Donald Moreland officiating. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery. With military rites conducted by the Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be Jim Dooley, Tim Dooley, Landon Reynolds, Ryan Wilson, Logan Dooley, and Stacy Vaughn. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Sunday School Class of Dry Valley Baptist Church.
Mr. Dooley will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.
