Mr. Eugene “Bean” Montgomery, age 76, of Summerville, GA died Monday, April 29, 2013 at his residence.

Mr. Montgomery was born December 31, 1936 in Athens, AL, the son of the late Doris Montgomery and Alice Montgomery. He was retired from the United State Army, having served in both the Korean and Vietnam eras. He was a Sargeant 1st Class. After retirement from the Army, he worked in Saudi Arabia where he trained Saudi National Guards on arm maintenance repair. He was a member of the VFW. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, David Montgomery and Alvin Montgomery; sister, Edith Wade; and longtime companion, Buahykam “Welcome” Aiya.

Survivors incude a son, Grant Montgomery; former wife, Rosemarie White; sister, Dorothy Murphy; caregiver, Myra Norton; a number of Nieces and Nephews, and their families.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with the military chaplain officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Larry Norton, Danny Murphy, Randy Murphy, Derrell Parker, Dan Floyd, and Casey Hunter. Honorary pallbearers will be all personal friends and family.

Mr. Montgomery will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p. m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project at Wounded Warrior Project 3343 Peachtree Road NE #M20 Atlanta, GA 30326
