Mr. Guy Harold Toles, JR, age 90, of Menlo, GA, passed away Tuesday December 6, 2011, in Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Toles was born November 29, 1921, the son of Guy Harold Toles, SR and Eunice Cavin Toles. He was retired Post Master after 30 years service with the Menlo Post Office, a World War II veteran having served with the First Marine Division in the South Pacific, being awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained during the Battle of Guadalcanal. He was the first from Chattooga County to be wounded during WWII. Mr. Toles was a member of the Alpine Masonic Lodge #211 in Menlo for more than 60 years, having served as Worshipful Master.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Evelyn
Greenwood Toles; a daughter, Sarah Beth Toles; a brother, Charles Fletcher
Toles, SR; and a sister, Daphne Joan Toles.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie Smith Toles, step-son, Bruce Daniel, step-daughters, Barbara Daniel, Linda Guthrie and Debbie Rich, brother, Lee L. Toles, sister Iris J. Toles, 3 nephews, 3 great nephews, 4 great nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Thursday, December 8, 2011 at
Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Elliott and Rev. Billy Dempsey
officiating. Interment will follow in Alpine Cemetery with Masonic Rites.
Active pallbearers will be Charles Toles, Guy Toles, Conrad Toles, Perry Vaughn, John Toles, Jimmy Evans, and Ricky Stoner. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Crowe, Faye Maxey, C Hall Nurses at Oakview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center,
special friends, Ramona Wright and Patty Evans.
Mr. Toles will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive
friends from 11:00 a. m. until the service hour on Thursday.
