Mr. James G. (Jimmy) Thompson, age 72, of Summerville, GA, passed away Friday November 20, 2020, in Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Thompson was born Jan. 10, 1948, in Alabama, the son of James and Myrtle Sparks Thompson, a member of North Summerville Baptist Church, where he was song director for many years, senior deacon, retired from Jackson Chevrolet, and preceded in death by his 1st wife Patsy Thompson, daughter, Patti Willingham, son, Joel Thompson.
Survivors include his loving wife, Joyce Thompson, daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Jeremy Croy, grandchildren, Adam & Jessi Willingham, Jesse & Abbigail Willingham, Sarah & Garrett Hurley Joshua Willingham, Kyle Davis, Mikinzie & Jeremy Anderson, Lightnin & Ashley Croy, Rees & Nick Tutton, great grandchildren, Ryan Anderson, Brantley Anderson, Hadley Anderson, Coleman Gilreath, Sailor Croy, Reed Willingham, Avery Willingham, Rett Hurley, sister, Tammy T. Watson, son-in-law Eddy Willingham, step-son, Erik & Lori Mann.
Graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday November 23, 2020, from the Greenhill Memory Gardens, with Rev. Tom Russell, Rev. Sammy Barrett officiating. Active pallbearers, Adam Willingham, Jesse Willingham, Joshua Willingham, Lightnin Croy, Tim Wilson, Robby Thompson. Honorary pallbearers, Men’s Sunday School Class of North Summerville Baptist Church, Lenny Wilson, lifelong friend Jackie Humphrey, Tom & Mary Russell, Elsie Hall, and our special nurses that helped us throughout the years, Shelena Chisolm & Matt Russell.
Mr. Thompson will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:30 p.m. Monday. The Thompson family along with the staff of Mason Funeral Home remind anyone in attendance to keep in mind the current guidelines and restrictions set forth by the C.D.C. as it pertains to social gatherings including social distancing, gathering limits, and face masks.
