Mr. James Kenneth Thompson, age 74, of Gaylesville, AL, died Friday, October 4, 2019, at Floyd Medical Center.

Mr. Thompson was born June 8, 1945, in Henagar, AL, son of the late Calvin Thompson and Mary June Ray Thompson Chadwick.  He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, worked as a truck driver.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Lynn Mitchell Thompson; and a son, Michael Thompson.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his daughters, Cindy Rowlls, Paula Penson, and Beth Storey; half-brother, Ronnie Chadwick; grandchildren, Donovan Thompson, Lance Rowlls, Danielle Thompson, Brooke Brown, Austin Penson, Jordan Penson, Dakota Smith, Lacie Smith, Noah Storey, Adam Storey, and Heaven Storey; great-grandchildren, Katlyn Hollingsworth, Sadie Rowlls, Bayleigh Ratliff, Ryder Brown, and Ayla Penson; and special friend, Kelley Griffin.
Funeral services for Mr. Thompson will be held at 3:00 P.M. (E.S.T.) Tuesday, October 8, 2019, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow in Union Hill “Needmore” Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Donovan Thompson, Austin Penson, Jordan Penson, Dakota Smith, Adam Storey, and Noah Storey.
Mr. Thompson will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. (E.S.T.) until the hour of service on Tuesday.
