Mr. Jerry Alan “Homebrew” Dearing, age 71, of Summerville, GA, passed away Sunday January 5, 2020, at his residence.

Mr. Dearing was born July 11, 1948, in Lafayette, GA, the son of the late Bill and Lumus Baggett Dearing.  He was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Mount Vernon Mills after 38 years of service.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Dearing was preceded in death by brothers, Jimmy Ray Dearing, Bobby Joe Dearing, and Billy Dean Dearing.
Survivors include his wife, Vickie Dearing; daughter, Melisa Cook, 2 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Alice Pettygrew and Linda Coker.
Funeral services for Mr. Dearing will be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, January 9, 2019, from the Mountain View Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin J. Norton officiating.  Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be nephews.  Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult Sunday School Class of Mountain View Baptist Church.
Mr. Dearing will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday.  He will also be in state at Mountain View Baptist Church from 2:00 P.M. until the service hour on Thursday.
