Mr. John Raymond "Cowboy" Hughes, age 51, of Summerville, GA died Monday, May 30,
2011 at his residence.
Mr. Hughes was born January 14, 1960 in Conyers, GA, the son of Betty Jo Hughes and the
late Cecil Alvin Hughes. He was a truck driver. Mr. Hughes was a veteran of the United
States National Guard. Other than his father, he was preceded in death by his wife,
Laura Hughes.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Josh and Stephanie Hughes and Jason and Mica
Hughes; mother, Betty Hughes; sisters, Carolyn Owens and Sharon Reed; brothers, Cecil
Robert Hughes and Rondall A. Hughes; grandchildren, Mikason Hughes, Samuel Hughes,
Noah Hughes, and Paitlyn Hughes; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside and interment services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at
Lyerly Cemetery with Rev. Billy Wright officiating. Pallbearers will be Josh Hughes, Jason
Hughes, Frankie Hughes, Michael Hughes, Manuel Owens, and Stacy Boyd. Honorary
pallbearer is Terry Huskey.
Mr. Hughes will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from
5:00 p. m. until 7:00 p. m. Wednesday, June 1, 2011.
