Mr. John Walter Bandy, age 69 of Rome, Georgia passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, January 13, 2021.
Mr. Bandy was born in Rome, Georgia on October 19, 1951, son of the late Lawrence Winston Bandy, Sr. and Bernice Davis Bandy. He was a member of the Silver Hill Baptist Church and had been employed with Syntec Industries and MarGlen Industries. Mr. Bandy was fluent in three languages. He held a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts from Shorter University, studied computer courses at Floyd College, and served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Georgia, and loved working on and building computers. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bandy was preceded in death by a sister, Sonya Yvonne Ballew.
Mr. Bandy is survived by a sister, Charlene Mary Holcomb; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lawrence and Gretna Bandy and Charles Lary and Tara Bandy; special friend, Betty Bearden; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Bandy will be held Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. in the Silver Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Russell Headrick officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Bandy will lie in state at the Silver Hill Baptist Church, where the family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service.
