Mr. William Howard “Poot” Ragland, age 64, 0f Lyerly, GA died Tuesday, August 7, 2012 .

Mr. Ragland was born July 22, 1948 in Summerville, GA. He was the son of the late Vonnie Ruth Abernathy Ragland and Roy Howard Ragland. He ran a successful business for many years. Mr. Ragland was a veteran of the United States Army where he was awarded a Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter Badge, and a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in Vietnam.

 

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and Stewart Elrod, Lisa Ruth Ragland, and Tina and Jay Ledford; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Jack Rich; brother, Ernest Douglas Ragland; 8 Grandchildren; and 2 Great Grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Friday, August 10, 2012 at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Rutledge and Rev. Larry Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in Johnson Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jack T. Rich, Randy Ragland, Jerry Hatcher, Brian Petitt, Chris Hatcher, and Ricky Beason. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Willliams, Harry Brady, Jack Rich, Less Adams, J T Rich, Nicky Carter, Ray Trammell, and Alan Green.

 

Mr. Ragland will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday.
