Mrs. Betty Ann Peppers Cook went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus
Christ, on May 10. 2012.  She leaves behind a loving husband, L. B. Cook, JR
to whom she was married for 62 years; daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and
Eddy Ellenburg; grandchildren, Blake and Cameron Dunagan, and Matt
Ellenburg; and a great-granddaughter, Rachel Dunagan.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Guy and Martha Bell
Henderson Peppers. She was the oldest of seven brothers and sisters.  She was affectionately known to them as “the big sister,” and she was cared for by them during her last weeks of life with love and laughter.  They are Bonnie and Andrew
Montgomery, Mary and David Rhodin, Bob and Joyce Peppers, Sara and
Pete Denson, Sam and Marilyn Peppers, and Steve and Sandra Peppers.
Many nieces and nephews who knew her as Aunt Bet also survive.
 
Betty’s faith in God had been an important part of her life from an early
age.  She worshipped God at Lyerly United Methodist Church.  She was the
senior member of the Methodist Women’s Group at the church.  She
served many years as the church treasurer, and she gave of her time and talents
as Sunday School teacher, activity organizer,  Bible study leader, mentor,
and friend.  She participated, with her loving husband, in Lay Witness
Missions in several states.  Betty was a long-time employee of Georgia Rug
Mill in the payroll department.
 
Betty was an avid gardner and loved to grow flowers, iris being her favorite
among them.  She requested that no flowers be sent to decorate her grave, but
expressed her wishes that donations may be made to the UMW group, c/o  Lyerly
Methodist Church, P. O. Box 152, Lyerly, GA  30730.  Betty always believed in
hard work and would be pleased to think her service to God continued after
her death.
 
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p. m. Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Mason
Funeral Home with Rev. Marshal Bryan, Rev. Barry Peppers, and Rev.
John Mann officiating.  She will be laid to rest at Lyerly Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Johnny Montgomery, Joe Potter, Johnny Crawford
Rayburn Mitchell, Butch Gardner, Billy Stallings, and Leonard Robertson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lyerly United Methodist Women.
 
Betty will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive
friends from 1:30 p. m. until the service hour on Saturday.
