Mrs. Betty Johnson Brooks, age 81 of Chickamauga, passed away on Friday, January 18, 2013. Bettywas a resident of Chickamauga and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church since 1952. Betty was a loving mother, grandmother and sister who will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Arnold Johnson; second husband, John W. Brooks; daughter, Paula Carter; and sisters, Maxine Gillilan, Lorraine Ashworth and Frances Morgan.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Pam (Lamar) Thomas of Chattanooga and Karen Johnson of Hixson; brother, Rev. James Braddy of Trion; grandchildren Kimberlee Carter, Jared (Mandi) Powell and Corey Jewell; great granddaughters, Emma Powell and Chloe Teague; sisters-in-law, Virginia Barkley of Summerville and Elizabeth Johnson of Chickamauga; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2013 in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Lee Griggs and Rev. Reed Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and prior to the service on Monday.
