Mrs. Melba Reece Short, age 83 , of Lyerly, GA, passed away Sunday Morning July 31, 2016, at her residence.  Mrs. Short was born November 1, 1932, in Lyerly, GA, the Oakhill Community, the daughter of the late George Paul Reece, SR and Mattie Lou Groce Reece.  Mrs. Short had lived all her life in the Lyerly, Ga area, was a beautician for over 44 years working for various beauty shops in the Summerville area, before opening her own beauty shop in Lyerly, GA, she was Methodist by faith, and was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Len Curtis (L.C.) Short, brothers, George Paul “Square” Reece, JR, William Leonard Reece, and Jim Earl Reece.
 
Mrs. Short is survived by her children, Michael Len “Mike” and Jayne Short, Connie Luann Short, grandson, William Michael “Will” Short and several nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral service will  be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday August 2, 2016 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Mason officiating with interment in the Lyerly Cemetey.
Active pallbearers, Mike Short, Will Short, Paul Reece, Eric Burrage, Blake Bullard, Lonnie Lee, Rick Warren, Randy McNeese.   Honorary pallbearers, nieces and nephews.
 
Mrs. Short will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Monday August 1, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m.
