Mrs. Muriel Elizabeth Ward, age 81, of Summerville, GA, died Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at her residence.

Mrs. Ward was born January 29, 1936, in LaFayette, GA, daughter of the late Charles and Mable Harris Williams.  She was Baptist by faith, and prior to her retirement, worked as a school bus driver for the Chattooga County School System for more than 40 years.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Ray Williams, Ryan Williams, Ralph Williams, Russell Williams, Roy Williams, Charles Williams, and Richard Williams; sisters, Mary Williams, Doris Ford, and Ruby Williams.

Mrs. Ward is survived by her husband, Frank Ward; son, Billy Ward; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Frank Wright; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rachael Simmons, Barbara and Fred Hall, Betty Huckabee, Joyce and Jerry Turner, Alice and Jim Gunner; granddaughter, Bailee Farrer; and great-granddaughter, Oaklyn Farrer.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ward will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, January 18, 2018, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Scoggins and Rev. Jimmy Bryant officiating.  Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Seth Anderson, Jeff Owings, Jeff Mosher, Don McGraw, and Frank Wright.  Honorary pallbearers will be Danny McGraw and Bob Himes.

Mrs. Ward will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the hour of service on Thursday.
