Mrs. Nellie Beatrice Taylor, age 96, of Lyerly, GA, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2020, at her residence.

Mrs. Taylor was born June 9, 1924, in Dutton, AL, daughter of the late Joseph Lee McGriff and Ella Jane “Jennie” Shirey McGriff.  She was a devoted Christian and faithful member of Lyerly First Baptist Church since September 6, 1942.  She sang in the choir, taught Sunday School for over 20 years, taught vacation Bible School, served in the W.M.U., and served on the Hostess Committee as well as numerous other committees.  She was also a member of the Golden Belles Sunday School Class until her health prevented her from attending.  Mrs. Taylor loved her family and her greatest joy came from being with them.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, J.S. Taylor who passed away June 24, 1983; a grandson, Lee Taylor Veatch; 7 brothers; and 4 sisters.
Survivors include sons, Jimmy (Ella Faye) Taylor, Donny (Jamie) Taylor; daughters, Brenda (Riley) Cooper, Teresia (David) Hall, and Beverly (Ricky) Veatch; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friend and caregiver, Mrs. Opal Deering, who was faithfully devoted to the comfort and care of Mrs. Taylor the last three years of her life.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at Lyerly First Baptist Church with Dr. James Baird officiating.  Interment will follow in Lyerly Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Greg Taylor, Yandell Ratliff, Aaron Bryant, Jeffrey Jarrett, Andy Allen, and Adam Willingham.  Honorary pallbearers will be Griffin Jarrett, Gavin Jarrett, Jackson Allen, Jaden Barnes, and Daniel Taylor.
Mrs. Taylor will be in state at Lyerly First Baptist Church and the family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Tuesday.
