Mrs. Peggy Sue Walters Tucker, age 86, of Savannah, GA (formerly of Gaylesville, AL) passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022, at her residence.

Lovingly known as “Granny” to all, Mrs. Tucker was born April 1, 1935, in Summerville, GA, daughter of the late Gordon Lee Walters and Mattie Koonce Walters.  She was a lifetime member of Berryton Church of God, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Cherokee County Board of Education as a cafeteria staff member and Cobb County Board of Education as a bus driver.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy John Tucker; a son, Billy Tucker, Jr.; brothers, Charles “Happy” Walters and Robert Walters; great-grandchildren, Madison Jade Netherland and Christopher Blake Turner.

Survivors include children, Nancy (Bill) Hawes, Michael R. (Terry) Tucker, Teresa P. Riggs, Ricky L. (Donna) Tucker, Susie Turner, Phyllis Tucker, and Steve (Michelle) Tucker; a sister, Pat Noles; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 30, 2022, at Berryton Church of God with Rev. Jason Lee officiating.  Interment will follow in AMI Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be grandsons and include Travis Story, Lee Turner, Jacob Turner, Gordon Turner, Travis Tucker, Jesse Tucker, and Jordon Butler.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathon Tucker, Matthew Riggs, David Glenn, Andrea Tucker, Michelle Glenn, and April Butler.

Mrs. Tucker will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, please donate in her honor to the Broomtown Volunteer Fire Department and/or Berryton Church of God.

Due to the current health concerns for the community, those in attendance are asked to keep in mind the current guidelines and restrictions set forth by the C.D.C. as it pertains to social gatherings including the use of face masks and hand sanitizer.
