Mary Elizabeth “Ebbie” Stephenson, age 83, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2022.

Ebbie was born in Chattooga County, Georgia on February 13, 1939, daughter of the late Albert N. White and the late Lucile Bell White. She was preceded in death by her son Michael Eli Stephenson. She was a homemaker and caterer and began a second career as a sales associate with Proffitt’s as an empty nester. She enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, and traveling. She loved the view of Lake Weiss from her front porch and found comfort and peace in the multi-faceted beauty of the lake and woods.

She is survived by three children: Deborah Stephenson, Dave Stephenson and his wife Sharon, and Carol Haynie and her husband Tommy. Her brother Robby White and his children Miranda and Trevor also survive her. Her grandchildren are Chris Haynie and Michelle, Renee, Joshua, and Sarah Stephenson.

Funeral services for Ebbie will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4900 Martha Berry Highway in Rome. Her son, Pastor Dave Stephenson, will be officiating the ceremony. Interment will follow in Lyerly Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Thursday from 12:00 pm until time of the service.
