Families, survivors and supporters will come together at Ridge Ferry Park in Rome on Saturday, September 26, for the annual Paper Doll Parade and Breast Cancer Awareness 5K.

Presented by Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation, the event is sponsored by Atrium Health Floyd, the Atrium Health Floyd-Polk Foundation and the Floyd Spirit Foundation. The evening is designed to celebrate breast cancer survivors, promote breast health education and support access to lifesaving screenings.

The 5K, which is a Peachtree Road Race qualifier, will begin at approximately 5 p.m. The two-mile Paper Doll Parade health walk will follow at 5:15 p.m. A costume contest is scheduled for 4:45 p.m., and breast cancer survivors will be recognized after the race and walk.

Atrium Health Floyd’s familiar paper dolls will be displayed throughout the park in athletic attire. The dolls represent the Atrium Health Floyd Breast Center’s message that “Knowledge is Power,” emphasizing education, early detection and access to quality breast care.

One dollar from every race and walk registration will support mammography scholarships for women who may face financial barriers to breast cancer screenings.

“The Paper Doll Parade and Breast Cancer Awareness 5K is a powerful example of what can happen when community partners come together around a common goal,” Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Director Todd Wolford said. “This event helps reinforce an important message: early detection saves lives, and knowledge is power.”

Early registration is available through August 30 and costs $31 for the 5K and $26 for the walk. Regular registration closes September 25 and costs $41 for the run and $36 for the walk. Late registration will be available in person for $46 for either event.

Groups registering by September 16 can receive a $5 discount per participant. Group registration codes are available by emailing Lindsey.Jones@floydcountyga.org.

Participants are encouraged to form teams, create fun team names, design paper doll costumes, dress in pink and honor loved ones affected by breast cancer.
