Northwest Georgia will stay wet today as widespread rain continues through the morning and into the evening.
While a few isolated thunderstorms are possible later today, the better chance for stronger storms is expected to remain mainly across portions of central Georgia, with the risk for severe weather staying low overall. In Chattooga County and surrounding northwest Georgia communities, steady showers and thick cloud cover will be the main story, and drivers should watch for reduced visibility at times—especially during the morning commute.
Rainfall totals across the region will generally range from about one-half inch to as much as an inch and a half, with some areas already picking up significant rain early this morning. High temperatures today are expected to reach the upper 50s to low 60s, then fall into the low 40s tonight. Conditions improve Sunday with drier weather returning and skies gradually clearing into the afternoon.
Looking ahead, temperatures will remain above normal into next week, with afternoon highs climbing into the 60s and possibly near 70 at times, and nighttime lows largely staying in the 50s outside the higher elevations. The next meaningful chance for rain and a potential cool-down may hold off until later next week, though the timing is still uncertain.
