Holiday giving is picking up speed as The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle and Angel Tree campaigns continue to see strong community support this season. Organizers say donations and participation are trending upward as more people look for ways to help neighbors in need during the holidays.
Local Salvation Army leaders say the goal this year is to raise $90,000, and the campaign is already more than halfway toward that mark. They’re also calling for more volunteers to help keep the push going through the heart of the season. Service organizations, student groups, businesses, and other community members have already stepped in to take bell-ringing shifts, and organizers say every hour volunteered helps keep the momentum strong.
The Angel Tree program has also been a major success, with hundreds of “angels” already sponsored, helping families and also providing support for seniors who may need assistance during the holidays. The program connects donors with gift requests, allowing community members to shop for and provide Christmas presents that are distributed to recipients once collected.
Organizers emphasize that The Salvation Army office in Rome serves Chattooga County, Floyd County, and surrounding counties, making local participation an investment in families across the entire region. Those who want to help can volunteer to ring the bell by signing up online or by calling 706-291-4745.
