The City of Summerville is inviting families across Chattooga County to kick off the Christmas season with Christmas in the Park this Thursday, December 4th, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dowdy Park in downtown Summerville.

The evening begins at 6 o’clock with a welcome, remarks from the mayor, and the arrival of Santa. Organizers say free hot chocolate and popcorn will be served throughout the event. Visitors can also enjoy Couey House tours and snap photos with the Grinch at the Couey House and the depot.

The fun continues with a bonfire, free miniature train rides around the park walking track, and food and craft vendors set up from 5:30 until 8 p.m. There will also be contests for Best Dressed Elf and Ugly Christmas Sweater, followed by prize drawings later in the evening—including a Christmas ham and bicycles.

City leaders encourage everyone to come early, bundle up, and enjoy a festive night celebrating the holidays in the heart of Summerville.
