A Summerville Police Department incident report released this past Friday details an arrest made earlier this month following a BOLO involving an alleged road rage encounter on Highway 27.
According to the report, an officer was dispatched at approximately 6:30 a.m. on December 3, 2025, for a “be on the lookout” call regarding a white van accused of attempting to run a blue Volvo off the roadway while traveling south on Highway 27 near the McDonald’s area.
The officer, who was stationed near the Chattooga County Courthouse, reported seeing the blue Volvo traveling at a high rate of speed with the white van following extremely closely. The Volvo activated emergency lights and pulled to the curb in front of the officer, while the white van reportedly swerved into the left lane without signaling.
The officer stopped the van and identified the driver as Larry Itson. The report states the officer drew his firearm and ordered the driver out of the vehicle, then placed him in handcuffs while checking for weapons.
Itson told the officer the Volvo nearly hit him and that he was chasing the vehicle. The officer noted there was no one else inside the van. The report also states the white van had rear bumper damage, but the Volvo driver did not want to press charges for the vehicle damage.
Itson was arrested on charges of Reckless Driving, Aggressive Driving, Following Too Closely, and Improper Lane Change. He was transported to the Chattooga County Jail, and the vehicle was towed, according to the report.
