Summerville Police are investigating a possible assault after officers responded to a medical call earlier this week.

Officers were initially dispatched to a residence on Hawkins Drive in Summerville in reference to a medical call. The incident is classified as an MD1 medical call.

Police say Jeff Stamper was found on the ground outside a residence, appearing unconscious. EMS responded and transported Stamper to Chattooga ER for evaluation. Officers later made contact at the hospital after receiving information that Stamper may have been assaulted.

A complainant, identified as Calvin Martin, told officers he had received word that Stamper may have been assaulted by a relative. When questioned, Stamper reportedly told officers he did not remember anything prior to EMS arriving.

Police documented the allegations and noted possible suspects. Police say some individuals at the scene were hesitant to provide names because they did not want anyone to get in trouble.

Officers photographed visible injuries and included the information in their report. No arrests were listed in the initial report, and the investigation remains ongoing.
