A Summerville woman was arrested Monday night, March 23, after deputies attempted to serve an arrest warrant at a residence in Chattooga County.

According to the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived around 10:15 p.m. to serve a warrant for failure to appear in State Court.

When officers attempted to place Audrey Elizabeth Wooten, 45, into custody, she reportedly refused commands to put her hands behind her back and resisted arrest. Deputies say Wooten tensed her arms and attempted to pull away from officers.

Authorities used what was described as the least amount of force necessary to bring the situation under control and place her in handcuffs.

While being escorted to a patrol vehicle, Wooten allegedly continued to resist before eventually complying and being seated in the vehicle. Due to her combative behavior, deputies noted she was not seatbelted during transport.

Wooten was taken to the Chattooga County Jail without further incident.

She is charged with obstruction of officers.
