
A United States Postal Service employee was bitten by a dog while delivering mail at a Summerville residence last week, according to an incident report from the Summerville Police Department.
Officer Joshua Mitchell reported that he met with complainant Ethan York at the United States Postal Service on August 11 following the incident.
According to the report, York said he was delivering mail at a residence on Hinton Street when he approached the front door. As he reached the residence, a dog inside the home began barking.
York told police that the homeowner opened the front door to allow her dog outside. The report states that the dog ran toward York and bit him on the inside of his right leg, behind his right knee.
Police photographed the injury and provided York with information concerning the dog.
The Summerville Police Department report states that the dog was reported to be current on all required vaccinations through Summerville Veterinary Hospital.
No additional injuries or charges were listed in the incident narrative.
