A Mississippi man was arrested in Summerville after a police officer reported observing a vehicle traveling well above the posted speed limit during the early morning hours of July 31.
The Summerville Police Department investigated a reported domestic dispute after a man told officers another person displayed a knife during an argument at a Rainbow Trail residence.
A Summerville man was arrested after police responded to a disturbance while investigating a report of missing medication.
According to the Summerville Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 5:20 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, to a residence on Scoggins Street in reference to a theft report.
The complainant, Jeanie Marie Marks, told officers that her brother, Lawson Marks, lives at the residence with another sister, Rebecca Darlene Mack. She said Lawson was undergoing treatment for an illness and takes several medications daily, but some of his medication, including controlled substances, had gone missing.
While officers were speaking with the complainant, David Marks and Rebecca Mack began arguing with each other. Police said officers repeatedly instructed those involved to stop arguing and remain calm while the theft investigation continued.
According to the incident report, David Marks continued to be belligerent with Mack and several of her friends who were present. Officers said Marks made abusive comments toward Mack and referred to her friends using offensive language. Police reported the disturbance made it difficult for officers to continue their investigation despite several warnings.
Officer B. Campbell arrested Marks for disorderly conduct. He was transported to the Chattooga County Jail without incident and later issued a citation for the city ordinance violation.
Officer Ramirez remained at the residence to continue investigating the report of the missing medication.
A Summerville man was cited for disorderly conduct after police responded to a heated confrontation in a parking lot on Saturday night.
According to the Summerville Police Department, Officer B. Campbell was patrolling the area of Highway 114 at approximately 9:35 p.m. on July 25 when he observed what appeared to be a verbal altercation between a man and a woman in the parking lot of the Pay N Tote convenience store.
The individuals were identified as Cody Cameron and Hilary Hall. Police said the officer made contact with both parties and learned that Hall was speaking with Cameron about his wife and children. Cameron reportedly told the officer that he did not like his wife being friends with Hall and confronted her in the parking lot.
According to the report, Cameron appeared to be intoxicated and admitted that he had been drinking. Officer Campbell issued Cameron a citation for disorderly conduct, alleging he engaged in a belligerent and hostile manner in public while intoxicated.
No additional charges or injuries were reported.

After speaking with those involved, the officer determined Hall was spending time with Cameron, and another individual was upset about the relationship. Cameron told police the confrontation began because the other person did not want his wife associating with Hall and instructed Cameron to “Pay N Tote.”
The report states Cameron admitted he had been drinking and appeared intoxicated. Officer Campbell issued Cameron a citation for Disorderly Conduct for engaging in a belligerent and hostile manner in a public place while intoxicated.

The Summerville Police Department is investigating after a city resident reported someone repeatedly placing political stickers on his vehicle without permission.
According to an incident report, police met with Dominick Bennett on July 25 regarding a criminal trespass complaint at a residence on Martin Street.
Bennett told police he first discovered “Trump” stickers placed on his vehicles about a month earlier while they were parked at his home. He said there was no damage to the vehicles and did not report the incident at that time.
According to the report, Bennett contacted police again after his wife discovered another “Trump” sticker inside the gas tank door of one vehicle. Later that same day, Bennett found an additional sticker on the rear passenger-side window of the same vehicle.
Bennett told officers he believes he and his family are being harassed because of their political views. He identified a nearby neighbor as a person of interest but acknowledged he has no evidence to support that belief. Bennett requested a follow-up investigation and told police he wishes to prosecute if the person responsible is identified.
The case has been turned over to the Summerville Police Department’s Investigations Division.
The Summerville Police Department is investigating damage to a playground fence at First United Methodist Church in downtown Summerville.
According to an incident report, Officer Matt Kinnamont responded to the church at 220 West Washington Street on July 28 after receiving a report of property damage.
Pastor John Privett told police someone had damaged the chain-link fence surrounding the church’s playground. Officers observed the fence had been removed from one side, bent, and that the top rail pieces had been broken.
Privett told police that several groups of children often use the playground and nearby basketball court, but it was unclear who was responsible for the damage. He said he was first notified of the incident on Saturday, July 25.
Police documented the damage with photographs and advised the church to consider installing security cameras. The case has been forwarded for further investigation.
The Summerville Police Department is investigating damage to an automated ice machine located near the Dollar General on Lyerly Highway.
According to an incident report, Officer M. Kinnamont was dispatched shortly after 10:30 a.m. on July 27 to the ice machine at 356 Highway 114 after receiving a report of damage.
The operator, Logan Hilton, told police the machine’s monitoring software alerted him to a malfunction around 7 a.m. the previous day. Someone also reportedly called him around 9 a.m. to report the damage.
Police observed damage to the front panel where customers make payments. The machine’s credit card reader was missing, and the power switch on the rear had been turned off.
Hilton told police the automated ice machine had last been checked about two months earlier. He was advised to install security cameras and contact police if he receives any additional information.
The case was documented as criminal trespass damage and forwarded to investigators.
A Summerville man reported losing more than $10,000 after falling victim to an apparent vacation rental scam, according to the Summerville Police Department.
Police say 48-year-old Brian Dover reported on July 27 that he and his wife had been communicating with someone claiming to be the owner of a vacation rental property listed on VRBO.
According to the incident report, Dover said he made an initial payment of $10,000, followed by another $500 transfer for the rental. He then traveled to Panama City Beach, Florida, to stay at the property, where he discovered the transaction was fraudulent.
The incident occurred at Dover’s residence on Back Penn Road in Summerville. The case remains under investigation by the Summerville Police Department.
