Two men were arrested yesterday morning (July 16, 2026) at 12:30 AM, after Summerville Police responded to a physical altercation in the parking lot of the Circle K convenience store on Highway 114.

According to citations issued by the Summerville Police Department, officers were called to the business at 650 Highway 114 at approximately 12:30 a.m. Thursday, July 16.

Sean Alan Sammons, of Menlo, was charged with disorderly conduct. According to the citation, Sammons was observed by two witnesses swinging a closed fist at another individual, resulting in a physical altercation.

William Matthew Pledger, of Summerville, was charged with disorderly conduct, public intoxication, and obstruction of law enforcement officers.

Police allege Pledger became involved in the physical altercation and then physically resisted officers after being given lawful commands. The citation also states Pledger admitted to being intoxicated, and officers reported detecting a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person.

Both men were issued citations and are scheduled to appear in Summerville Municipal Court. The incident remains under investigation.

Woman Cited for Public Intoxication After Report of Looking Into Vehicles in Summerville

A Summerville woman was cited for public intoxication after police responded to reports of suspicious behavior near the intersection of Kirby Street and Bellah Avenue.

According to a citation issued by the Summerville Police Department, officers encountered Adrianna Nicole Jones, 30, of Summerville, at approximately 2:20 a.m. on July 14.

The citation states officers observed Jones in the area of Kirby Street and Bellah Avenue after reports that she had been looking into and through the windows of vehicles. A witness reportedly told police Jones was staggering and “didn’t appear normal.”

According to the officer’s narrative, Jones admitted she had consumed approximately half a bottle of wine. The report further states that officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on her person and observed that she was unsteady on her feet.

Jones was issued a citation for Public Intoxication under Summerville City Ordinance 38-140. She is scheduled to appear in Summerville Municipal Court on Sept. 15 at 5:00 p.m.

As with all criminal charges and citations, the allegations contained in the citation are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

A Summerville man reported that his vehicle was intentionally damaged while it was parked outside his apartment, according to a report from the Summerville Police Department.

Police responded to 50 Saratoga Way, Apartment A20, at approximately 8:19 p.m. on June 29 after Garry Lovingood, 63, requested to file a report about his vehicle being keyed.

According to the incident report, Lovingood told Officer J. Pledger he discovered the damage after returning from out of town and believes it occurred while his 2011 white Nissan Murano was parked in the apartment complex parking lot. He said he did not know who may have been responsible and declined to identify any possible suspects because he was uncertain.

Officer Pledger documented the damage, photographed the vehicle, and noted in the report that the scratch appeared to be fresh. Police also advised Lovingood that officers would conduct extra patrols in the area.

The incident was documented as non-criminal damage to a vehicle, and no suspects have been identified.

A Summerville man is expected to face an animal cruelty charge following an investigation into reports that a dog was being kept without adequate food, water or shelter during hot weather, according to the Summerville Police Department.

Police were dispatched at approximately 7:54 p.m. on July 1 after receiving a complaint about a dog allegedly being neglected. According to the incident report, the complainant identified the dog’s owner as Dakota Marks and reported seeing the dog tied to a tree with a ratchet strap.

When officers arrived, they found a large dog secured by a ratchet strap with one end attached to the animal and the other fastened to a tree. The report states the immediate area contained no shelter from the heat, no accessible food, and the only water container had a crack in the bottom, preventing it from serving as a reliable water source. Officers also noted the area was heavily littered with trash and that the restraint was not long enough for the dog to reach a nearby camper.

The responding officer photographed the scene and requested assistance from Animal Control. Attempts to locate Marks at the location were unsuccessful.

According to the report, a warrant was issued for Dakota Marks on a charge of Cruelty to Animals.

A Summerville man has reported a handgun missing after discovering it was no longer inside his vehicle, according to the Summerville Police Department.

Police say James Parker contacted dispatch on June 28, 2026, to report that his Taurus G3 9mm handgun was missing. Parker told officers he believes someone stole the firearm while his vehicle was parked on Hawkins Drive.

According to the incident report, Parker last saw the handgun at approximately 8:30 p.m. on June 27 and discovered it missing around 1:30 a.m. on June 28. The firearm was identified by its serial number in the report.

The incident remains under investigation by the Summerville Police Department, and no suspects have been identified.

A 20-year-old Silver Creek woman was arrested after Summerville Police say she drove into a yard, became involved in an altercation with a homeowner, and bit the victim during a domestic disturbance early Saturday morning.

According to a Summerville Police Department incident report, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 500 block of Highland Avenue at approximately 1:40 a.m. on June 28 in reference to a domestic disturbance.

When Officer Brandon Lindsey and Officer Pledger arrived, they found 53-year-old Tara Williams standing near the roadway. Williams told officers that Lashauna Lynn Whatley, 20, of Silver Creek, had driven into a ditch in her yard, jumped from the vehicle, and attacked her. Williams alleged that Whatley bit her hand during the altercation before leaving the area.

As officers searched for the suspect, bystanders alerted them to another disturbance taking place around the corner. Police located Whatley and identified her based on a description provided by Williams. While officers were attempting to take Whatley into custody, police say she spat on Officer Adam Dawson. She was then arrested.

Williams later confirmed to officers that Whatley was the person who had driven into the ditch and bitten her hand.

Whatley was charged with simple battery, battery, and reckless driving. She was transported to the Chattooga County Jail.

Woman Arrested After Alleged Public Disturbance In Downtown Summerville

The Summerville Police Department arrested a Rome woman Saturday after officers responded to a disturbance in downtown Summerville. According to citations filed by the department, Tikeria Shaniquia Clowers, 27, of Rome, was charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct following the incident.

According to the citations, officers observed Clowers to be visibly intoxicated in a public roadway, where police say she was causing a public disturbance. Officers also reported that she was told multiple times to lower her voice and stop yelling profanities. The citations state that after several warnings, she allegedly continued to be loud and boisterous, at which point she was placed under arrest.

The arrest occurred on June 28 in the area of 516 Highland Avenue in Summerville. Clowers is scheduled to appear in Summerville Municipal Court on September 15, 2026, to answer the charges.

The Summerville Police Department has charged an Alabama woman with driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle following a traffic stop in Summerville.

According to citations filed by the department, Nicole Renee Thacker, 23, of Cedar Bluff, Alabama, was cited after officers stopped her vehicle on June 28 on Pine Street near Highway 114. Officers allege Thacker was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol to the extent that it was less safe for her to drive. The citation also states that an alcoholic beverage in an open container was found in the center console cup holder while she was operating the vehicle. Court documents further indicate that Thacker was advised of Georgia’s implied consent law and refused the requested state chemical test.

Thacker is scheduled to appear in Summerville Municipal Court on September 15, 2026, to answer the charges.
