Georgians may want to keep the bug spray handy this summer as experts warn that mosquito populations are expected to be especially active across the state.
Children ages 6 to 12 will have the opportunity to explore the outdoors and learn valuable nature skills this summer during Junior Ranger Camp at James H. “Sloppy” Floyd State Park.
School is out for the summer, and churches across the area are holding, or preparing to hold, Vacation Bible School programs for local children. Vacation Bible School, commonly known as VBS, has been a summer tradition for generations. The movement began in the late 19th century as a way to provide wholesome, biblically focused summer activities for neighborhood children.
With school letting out and summer getting underway, safety officials are reminding families across Northwest Georgia to use caution when riding ATVs and other off-road vehicles.
Registration officially opens today, Wednesday, April 15, for the beloved Camp Hamby Day Camp in Summerville, a long-standing summer tradition that has impacted generations of families across Chattooga County and Northwest Georgia.
