Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton Urges Residents To Update Mailing Addresses After Property Tax Bills Returned

Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton is reminding property owners to keep their mailing addresses updated after a large number of property tax bills were returned as undeliverable.

In a social media post, Hampton’s office shared a photograph showing a large stack of returned mail and urged residents who have moved or closed their post office boxes to notify the Chattooga County Tax Assessor’s Office.

Hampton explained that residents who need to update their mailing addresses should contact the Tax Assessor’s Office so the changes can be communicated to her office before next year’s tax bills are mailed.

The reminder is particularly important for property owners who have recently moved, changed mailing addresses or stopped using a post office box. Keeping address information current helps ensure that future property tax notices reach the correct destination.

Property owners can also look up their tax bills online at www.chattoogacountytax.com.

Residents who have not received their property tax bills are encouraged to check their information and make sure their mailing addresses are correct.
