A Rome woman is facing a felony charge after authorities say she helped conceal a woman who had reportedly been wanted by authorities in Chattooga County for approximately three years.

According to reports, Kimberlie Kay Edwards, 61, of Rome, is accused of allowing the wanted woman to hide inside a camper at Edwards’ residence on Fosters Mill Road.

Authorities said Edwards told them she was alone inside the camper. However, officers later located the wanted woman hiding in the shower.

Reports did not identify the fugitive or specify what charges she is wanted on in Chattooga County, only that she had reportedly been wanted there for the past three years.

Edwards was arrested and charged with aiding another to escape lawful custody.

The charge against Edwards is an allegation, and she is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
