Mr. Robert Ray Thompson, age 68, of Lyerly, GA., passed away Saturday July 5, 2008, at his residence. Mr. Thompson was born Feb. 26, 1940, in Chattanooga, TN., the son of the late Harold Ernest and Frances Elizabeth Thompson. He was a Self-Employed Painter, a member of the Lyerly United Methodist Church, the Chattooga Shrine Club, Masonic Lodge #338 F&AM, where he served as Chaplain. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Thompson, son Ronald Lamar Thompson, and a grandson, Colby Thompson.

Survivor include son and daughter-in-law, Robert R. and Carol Thompson, Jr., Lyerly, GA., daughters and son-in-law, Frances Elizabeth Thompson, Lyerly, GA., Brenda Faye and Robert Simmons, Trion, GA., grandchildren, William & Sebrina Thompson, Sr., Emily & Kenneth Tucker, Justin Thompson, Kenneth & Stephanie Thompson, great-grandchildren, William Thompson,Jr., Dalton Thompson, Jonathon Thompson, Gracie Thompson, Devan Fowler, 3 step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday July 9, 2008, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marshall Bryan, Rev. John Mann officiating with interment in the Lyerly Cemetery. Active Pallbearers, Micheal Nix, Joe Reed, Austin Todd, Scott Jackson, Sam Black, Jody Thomas, Larry Weesner. Honorary pallbearers, member of all the Chattooga County Masonic Lodges.

Mr. Thompson will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Tuesday July 8, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations maybe made to the Lyerly Masonic Lodge #338.
