Two women were arrested following an alleged shoplifting incident and reported threats at the Walmart on Highway 27 in Chattooga County, according to an incident report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.

The report states deputies were called to the store on Sunday, December 14, around 4:46 p.m., after loss prevention reported a shoplifting case involving merchandise allegedly not paid for at checkout. Investigators say store staff reviewed Walmart’s CCTV and observed two women at a self-check register. The report indicates one woman allegedly scanned some items while other merchandise was not scanned and was later concealed, including an item described as a blanket.

Loss prevention documented the total value of the items reported stolen at $96.49, according to the incident report.

The report identifies Rebecca Darlene Mack, 62, as one of the suspects. Mack was charged with theft by shoplifting and terroristic threats and acts. The incident report states Mack allegedly made threatening remarks during the encounter as store staff attempted to address the suspected theft.

A second woman, Kimberly Dawn McDaniel, 51, was also arrested and charged with party to a crime, according to the report. Both women were transported to jail following the incident.
