Two Suspects in Custody, One Still Sought After iPads Stolen From Trion Walmart

Two of the three suspects accused of stealing several iPads from the Walmart in Trion are now in custody, while law enforcement continues searching for a third suspect.

According to Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader, store employees attempted to stop the three men as they left the store Friday after they were suspected of shoplifting multiple iPads. The suspects fled before deputies arrived.

One suspect was initially apprehended Friday. Sheriff Schrader later announced that a second suspect has now been taken into custody, leaving one suspect still at large.

Authorities said the remaining suspect was last seen wearing green and black shorts with a black shirt. Sheriff Schrader has released a surveillance image of the suspect and is asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators believe the suspects may also be connected to other shoplifting incidents in Michigan and Dalton, Georgia.

The investigation remains active, and additional charges or arrests may be forthcoming.

One man is in custody and two others remain at large following an alleged shoplifting incident Friday at Walmart in Trion.

According to Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader, three men were stopped while leaving the store after they were believed to have stolen several iPads.

Authorities say the suspects fled the scene before Chattooga County Sheriff’s deputies arrived. Law enforcement was able to apprehend one of the three men, while the other two remained at large as of Friday night.

Sheriff Schrader said investigators believe the three men may also be connected to other shoplifting incidents in Michigan and in Dalton, Georgia.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information has not yet been released.

Woman Arrested After Alleged Shoplifting Incident At Summerville Walmart

A Summerville woman was arrested after allegedly attempting to leave Walmart with more than $160 worth of unpaid merchandise, according to a report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Benjamin Mollohan responded to the Walmart Asset Protection Office on June 14 following a report of a suspected shoplifter. According to the incident report, a Walmart asset protection employee observed 46-year-old Carly Marie Meeks concealing merchandise inside her handbag while shopping.

The report states that Meeks entered an aisle carrying multiple items and later emerged with the items no longer visible while her handbag appeared noticeably full. Store personnel alleged that Meeks passed all points of sale without paying for 33 items valued at $161.25.

Authorities said Meeks was taken into custody and transported to the Chattooga County Jail without incident. The asset protection employee provided deputies with a receipt listing the unpaid merchandise and video footage related to the case.

Meeks was charged with theft by shoplifting.

Summerville Man Arrested After Alleged Shoplifting Incident In Floyd County

A Summerville man was arrested following an alleged shoplifting incident at the Dollar General on Calhoun Road in Floyd County.

According to Floyd County Police reports, 33-year-old Dalton Taylor Worthington was observed taking a backpack from a store shelf before going into the restroom and returning a short time later.

Investigators say the backpack was then used to conceal two Shamrock drinks along with other merchandise while store employees watched the incident unfold.

Police said Worthington walked past all points of sale without paying for the items, which had a reported total value of $19.25.

Worthington was later charged with Theft by Shoplifting.

Summerville Man Arrested Following Shoplifting Incident

A Summerville man was arrested earlier this month following a reported shoplifting incident at a local convenience store, according to the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say 36-year-old Cody Lee Vickers was charged with theft by shoplifting after allegedly taking several items from a store on Highway 27 without paying.

According to the incident report, a deputy responded after receiving a complaint about a male suspect matching Vickers’ description leaving the store with merchandise. Authorities say the suspect was later located walking nearby and was taken into custody without further incident.

The report states the stolen items included cigarettes, Mountain Dew, and several other products allegedly concealed inside a jacket pocket.

Vickers was transported to the Chattooga County Jail following the arrest.

Friends Of Sloppy Floyd Hosting Homemade Ice Cream Sale Sunday

The Friends of Sloppy Floyd are inviting the community out for a sweet treat this Sunday during their Homemade Ice Cream Sale at James H. “Sloppy” Floyd State Park.

The event will take place Sunday, May 24th, from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. next to the park visitor center. Organizers say several traditional homemade ice cream flavors will return this year, along with a few surprise flavors for visitors to enjoy.

Ice cream will be available for three dollars per cup, and both cash and cards will be accepted.

The Friends group encourages families and friends to come out, enjoy the park, and cool off with homemade ice cream during the Memorial Day weekend.

A ten-dollar park pass or annual pass is required for parking.

Shoplifting Arrest Made Following Incident at Trion Walmart

A woman was arrested earlier this month following a shoplifting incident at the Walmart in Trion.

According to the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the store on April 10th after reports of a suspected shoplifter attempting to leave with unpaid merchandise.

Upon arrival, deputies identified the suspect as Alexis Louise Dollar, who had allegedly been seen on camera selecting items and attempting to leave the store without paying. Loss prevention personnel advised that Dollar had passed all points of sale with merchandise valued at more than $180.

Authorities later located the suspect’s vehicle traveling on Highway 27. After an investigation and review of surveillance footage, deputies obtained a warrant through Rome City Court.

Alexis Louise Dollar was later taken into custody and charged with misdemeanor shoplifting. She was transported to the Chattooga County Jail without further incident.

Gaylesville Woman Charged With Felony Shoplifting At Rome Walmart

A Gaylesville, Alabama woman is facing felony charges after allegedly stealing merchandise from the Walmart in West Rome over multiple visits.

According to an arrest warrant, 32-year-old Brittany Ann Edwards, who was working as a third-party delivery driver at the time, is accused of failing to scan dozens of items while shopping inside the store.

Authorities say Edwards placed approximately 40 items in a cart without scanning them and then left the store. The incidents reportedly occurred on seven separate occasions between June 24 and July 14 of last year.

The total value of the merchandise exceeded $500.

Edwards has been charged with felony theft by shoplifting.
