The Chattooga County Young Farmers will host a special meeting on Thursday, April 2 at 7:00 PM at the Chattooga County Ag Center, featuring guest speaker Jason Duggin of the University of Georgia Beef Team.

Duggin, who serves as a Beef Extension Specialist with UGA’s Department of Animal and Dairy Science in Calhoun, will present on Livestock Emergency Response, a topic focused on helping producers prepare for and respond to emergencies involving cattle operations.

In his role, Duggin oversees the Bull Evaluation and Heifer Development programs and helps lead several statewide initiatives, including the Georgia Beef Challenge, Master Cattleman Program, Livestock Emergency Response Program, and Top Hand Stockmanship series. He also serves as a Beef Quality Assurance coordinator for Georgia and works closely with county extension agents, cattlemen’s associations, and producers across the state.

Duggin brings extensive experience to the program, having spoken at more than 340 agricultural events nationwide and judged livestock shows across the country, including the North American International Livestock Expo and National Junior Angus Show. He is also a frequent contributor to industry publications such as the Angus Journal and Georgia Cattlemen’s Association.

The meeting will include a meal, and attendees are asked to RSVP by Monday, March 30 to Lauren Jarrett at ljarrett@chattooga.k12.ga.us or 706-252-4266.

Organizers say the event will provide valuable information for local cattle producers and anyone involved in agriculture across northwest Georgia.
