A nonprofit organization that provides clothing and other essentials to children in foster care is preparing to open a new location in Summerville and is asking the community for help getting everything ready.
Flourish Foster Care Closet & Support, Inc. hopes to open its newest clothing closet at The Well, located at 141 West Washington Street in Summerville, by Thanksgiving.
The organization provides a welcoming place where children and youth in foster care can shop for clothing and other necessities at no cost, helping ease the financial burden on foster families.
Before the new location can open, volunteers are needed to help set up clothing racks, sort donated clothing, organize supplies and prepare the space for families.
Organizers are inviting community members to volunteer during the coming week, emphasizing that even an hour of assistance can make a difference.
The new Summerville location will expand the organization’s efforts to support foster children and the families caring for them.
Anyone interested in volunteering can view available times and register online at signup.com/go/WsxmMCJ. Volunteers can also visit flourishcloset.com and select the volunteer option.
The organization hopes to have the Summerville closet ready to serve families in time for Thanksgiving.
