CRC Chattooga is looking for volunteers willing to give a little of their time each week to help deliver food to local families who are unable to visit the food pantry themselves.

The organization is currently seeking a two-person volunteer delivery team that can work together one day each week to deliver food boxes to families in need throughout the community.

According to CRC Chattooga, volunteers would typically deliver only two to four food boxes each week, but those deliveries can make a significant difference for families who cannot travel to the pantry to pick up food.

The opportunity could be a good fit for two friends, spouses, family members or others who would like to volunteer together while helping their neighbors.

CRC Chattooga provides food and other assistance to individuals and families throughout Chattooga County.

Anyone interested in joining the volunteer delivery team is encouraged to contact CRC Chattooga directly or send the organization a message through its Facebook page for additional information.

Habitat for Humanity – Coosa Valley Seeks Volunteers to Help Build Homes and Hope

Habitat for Humanity – Coosa Valley is seeking volunteers to support its mission of building homes and creating hope for families across Chattooga, Floyd and Polk counties.

Volunteers do not have to be experienced with construction to help. The organization offers several ways for community members to get involved.

Ground was broken in late May on Habitat’s 62nd home, which will be built for the Cornejo family. Executive Director Betsy Allgood encourages residents to watch for upcoming information about volunteer opportunities connected with the home build.

Volunteers are also needed to work concessions during Rome Emperors home games at AdventHealth Stadium. Habitat operates two large concession stands and the nacho stand, receiving 15 percent of the proceeds along with any tips donated by customers.

Habitat also welcomes volunteers, donations and shoppers at its ReStore near Central Plaza in Rome.

CRC Chattooga Invites Community to Homeless Collaborative This Evening Ahead of PIT Count

CRC Chattooga is inviting the community to come together this evening to help prepare for the annual Point-in-Time, or PIT Count, a nationwide effort to better understand and serve neighbors experiencing homelessness.

Organizers are looking for compassionate volunteers to help with the unsheltered count on the night of January 26, when small teams will respectfully visit known outdoor locations to ensure everyone is seen and counted. CRC Chattooga says the effort is safe, dignity-focused, and aimed at improving local support and services.

The Homeless Collaborative meeting is set for this evening at 6 p.m. at the CRC Chattooga Cafeteria, located at 50 Eleanor Avenue in Summerville. Anyone interested in volunteering is encouraged to comment or message CRC Chattooga for more information.
