The Walker County Sheriff’s Office is recognizing several employees for their dedicated service and announcing its 2025 Employee of the Year honorees across multiple divisions.

Sheriff’s Office leaders presented awards for years of service and special recognition, including:

  • Sergeant Bruce Coker — Recognition of Service Award

  • Deputy Roger Avans — 25 Years of Service

  • Captain Richie Dye — 30 Years of Service

  • Detective Sergeant Walt Hensley — 35 Years of Service

The agency also announced its Employees of the Year for 2025, recognizing outstanding performance and dedication in each division:

  • Bruce Morgan — Administration Division Employee of the Year

  • Officer Christian Woods — Detention Division Employee of the Year

  • Deputy Lynn Thomas — Court Services Division Employee of the Year

  • Detective Sergeant Michael Durham — Criminal Investigations Division Employee of the Year

  • Deputy Shelby Creighton, Deputy Matthew Creighton, and Sergeant Jonathan Camp — Patrol Division Employees of the Year
