A 29-year-old woman was arrested by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office following a traffic stop on Highway 27 after a deputy discovered several violations involving her driver’s license, vehicle registration and insurance.
According to a report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Matt Wilson was on routine patrol around 6:57 p.m. on September 29, 2026, when he observed a black Chevrolet Silverado traveling northbound on Highway 27. The deputy reported seeing the vehicle cross over the white fog line several times and noticed that its Georgia license plate appeared to have an expired registration sticker.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Haily Ilsa Jennings, 29. Three juveniles were also passengers in the vehicle.
Jennings reportedly told the deputy that she was running errands and picking up a snow cone. She acknowledged that her driver’s license was expired and said she had been unable to get to the Department of Driver Services to renew it.
Additional deputies and Trion Police units arrived to assist. A check through dispatch revealed that Jennings’ license had been expired since August and that the vehicle’s registration was suspended. Jennings told deputies that the truck belonged to her boyfriend.
The deputy also reported that the vehicle had no valid insurance. Jennings acknowledged that she knew the registration was suspended.
Jennings gave deputies permission to search the vehicle, and no contraband was found.
She was arrested on charges of driving with an expired license, failure to maintain lane and operating a vehicle with suspended registration.
Jennings was transported to the Chattooga County Jail without incident. Another individual was allowed to drive the truck away with the juveniles.
