The Trion Bulldogs will make a 4 hour drive down south today to Rochelle, GA to take on the Wilcox County Patriots in the second round of the GHSA playoffs.

Wilcox County is the Region 4A Champion with an 8-3 overall record and a 7-1 region record.  The Patriots are currently ranked 8^th in the state according to the AJC.

Two out of Wilcox County’s three losses this year came against non-region opponents who were both ranked in the AJC Top 10 in their respective classes and both still alive in the playoffs.  Wilcox County started the season 0-2 losing 21-19 to Bleckley County, the #3 ranked team in AA and 35-0 to Schley County who is ranked #5 in A-Public.

The Patriots only region loss was to Dublin in week 7 by the score of 49-0.  Wilcox County was crowned the region champion due to Dublin losing two region contests to Dooly County and Johnson County, two teams that Wilcox County defeated.

Due to one upset in Trion’s side of the bracket, should Trion win tonight’s game against Wilcox County, next week’s playoff game would return to Sam R. McCain stadium in Trion.  The winner of tonight’s Trion vs Wilcox County game will advance to play the winner of the Manchester vs McIntosh County Academy at home next Friday night.
